SCUV Frequently Asked Questions
1. Who does this policy and associated procedures apply to?
All operators are required to have training, including all students, employees, contractors, and 水多多导航 volunteers. Registration applies to all carts that are on campus for longer than 41 days. Short-term rentals (less than 41 days) also have labeling and marking requirements, but no registration.
2. What are the operator requirements?
- Training provided by the Office of Risk Management
- A valid driver’s license
- A clean motor vehicle report
3. How often is training required?
Every three years.
4. How can look up my training records?
Training records for 水多多导航 employees and students are available at my.smu.edu>Learning Development. Scroll down to “Other Professional Training”. Contractors can reach out to the Office of Risk Management for their training records.
5. Where should I park my SCUV or LSV?
Parking areas where these SCUVs and LSVs can park is very limited. There are open paver areas or pads near various buildings on campus but note that these may not be adjacent to the building you are accessing. Some garages and departments have designated areas for cart parking for their specific carts. 水多多导航 is currently assessing parking for carts on campus and more information will be coming soon.
Carts cannot be parked in the following areas:
- Vehicle parking spaces of any kind
- Within 10 feet of building entrances, fire hydrants, or standpipes
- Areas that block a crosswalk, loading dock, fire lane, stairs, access ramps, or in curb cuts.
- Grassy and landscaped areas should be avoided
- Within a building envelope or under overhangs unless specifically designated
6. How can I go about purchasing a street-legal cart (LSV/NEV) for accessing East Campus and 水多多导航 properties south of Mockingbird?
