Snowpainters

About this game

In Snowpainters, choose between three distinct penguins to race against your friends and other competitive penguins! Pick between the light, speedy Rockhopper, the heavy, controlled Emperor, or the well balanced Adélie penguin. Also choose between a plethora of hats to give extra personality to your penguin.

Use a brand new, unique element to the arcade racing genre. Gather paint cans to fill your boost meter and speed through the track while dropping paint trails behind you. Strategically change your color to match the different paint trails on the track to go even faster! Play against your friends on three different arctic themed tracks, “North Pole”, “Ice Caves”, and “Glacier”, to see who is the fastest penguin racer! Play on the North Pole, the Ice Caves, and the Glacier with eight total penguins. Wanting to roam the snowy mountains or learn the game for the first time? Play through the single-player tutorial to explore the vast icy tundra.

Snowpainters was a three month-long development cycle that began in late January of 2021. Starting with the concept of the game, the 40-person development team worked hard to bring it to life. This game is the product of Cohort 30 learning how to develop on a large, cross-disciplinary team. Individuals learned to communicate effectively across disciplines in order to deliver successful milestones to the stakeholders.

2D Game | Blackhive Arts: Jacob Asofsky, Dylan Messina, Yuxuan Bai, Benjamin Wu, Malachi Anderson, Michael Young

GMO-NO! is a mobile platformer with a singular movement option, grappling towards designated points on the screen. The player, named Rooty, must grapple with his extendable vine and avoid deadly hazards to collect three bomb parts in each level and reach the exit, which then begins a speed-running gauntlet while the bomb counts down. This means each level contains two parts, the former with a focus on finding bomb parts and exploring the level for collectibles, and the latter emphasizes speed above all else. The occasional humor from the game’s narrator, a talking strawberry named Strawbilly, along with the limited movement options and split-task levels make the game feel unique and exciting.
