In the ruins of a brutal civil war, a daughter sits with her mother’s shattered crown. The Kingdom, segregated into a strict caste-system, struggles to sustain a poverty-stricken land. The daughter, sword and crown in hand, infiltrates the Gilded Empress’ decadent palace, seeking revenge.

She battles waves of the queen’s minions, adopting her enemies’ combat styles for victory. With each battle, the daughter realizes her potential to be empress. Upon slaughtering the Gilded Empress’ generals, the daughter arrives in the queen’s throne room, empowered with her newly found combat skills. By slaying the empress, the land returns to order, safe under the rule of the benevolent princess.

Fowl Play Games is proud to present Reign of Blades, a single-player action/adventure, hack-and-slash. Developed over the course of six months, our team strived to create an intuitive and engaging combat system. Facing the challenges of art style revisions, team size limitations, and the creation of narrative without the use of text, Fowl Play Games came together to ship a game with over forty-five minutes of play-time.

One of the key goals we achieved while creating Reign of Blades was making the melee combat feel responsive and visceral. Online testimonials and player feedback validate the many hours our team spent creating this experience. Through cross-discipline collaboration, we learned the ins and outs of what it truly takes to ship a game.

Akhet is a four on four, capture the flag game in which two teams enter into “technomagical” combat, seeking to capture each of the four canopic jars and reunite their masters with the sacred afterlife organs contained inside.

Servants of two of the major Egyptian gods, Anubis and Ra, make up each team. Each god endowed these servants with some of their power, which allows them to utilize powerful ancient weapons.

Players also take advantage of ancient building methods, constructing turrets and air lifts to aid in their combat and defense. The battle takes place in the Tomb of Osiris, an ancient Egyptian burial crypt that evokes dark and ominous emotions, as well as a sense of wonder and mystery. Only the strongest survive in this struggle for afterlife perfection and peace.

Set in the recesses of a little girl's imagination, the imaginary friend Mr. F. Marshfellow sets off to save the girl from the evil Shadowman. A vibrant place populated with friendly creatures, the little girl's mind held happiness and unrestrained imagination. Recently, dark memories and shadowy thoughts of her mind corrupted the once hopeful world of her imagination.

The player controls the troubled little girl's imaginary friend, Marshfellow, while navigating a perilous dreamscape. To save his little girl from madness, Marshfellow must travel through his imaginer's dreams and defeat the mysterious Shadowman. Because of his playful nature, Marshfellow cannot attack or kill the dream monsters. Instead, gameplay revolves around circumventing or warding off enemies altogether. During his travels, Marshfellow encounters scattered happy memories left behind by the little girl. Marshfellow unlocks these memories to bring his creator out of the dark clutches of the Shadowman.
